'We Bleed Maroon' crooner headlining annual Moulton Jamboree

The annual Moulton Town & Country Jamboree kicks off Thursday with family night at the carnival and rocks all the way through Sunday.
The carnival opens at 6 p.m. Thursday and presale tickets are $10 for Thursday only.
Saturday's musical headliner is Granger Smith, with the opening act Pale Horses. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 703 W Jackson St. Pre-sale tickets are $10 and $12 at the door.
Smith has made a name for himself with seven Texas Music Top 10 singles, three tours in Iraq and Kuwait playing for American soldiers and three shows at the White House, according to his website.
In appreciation for his alma mater, Texas A&M, Smith wrote "We Bleed Maroon" in 2007. It has been adopted as a modern day anthem for Aggie fans.
Proceeds from the song go toward a scholarship fund for incoming students who show exceptional spirit. The song can be heard at all Texas A&M home football games, while the video plays on the large video screen in the stadium.
"We Bleed Maroon" reached a new high, literally, when it was played on the Space Shuttle Discovery in 2008 at the request of astronaut Michael Fossum, a fellow Aggie, according to Smith's website.
A lot of Jamboree activities are planned before and after Smith takes the stage on Saturday night.
Events are in and around the Moulton Community Center, 102 Veterans Drive.
On Friday the carnival opens at 6 p.m. Arm bands are $15. Arts and crafts booths will also open at 6 p.m.
Activities include a men's softball tournament that continues through Sunday. Salsa, sausage and shrimp cook offs are also planned.
The Majestics will play under the pavilion from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday kicks off at 8 a.m. with a 5K run and walk. The carnival opens at noon.
Cook offs include chili, barbecue chicken, barbecue sauce, brisket, beans and ribs.
Musical acts include the Tim Hall Band and Southern Express from 3 p.m. to midnight.
Children's activities start at 6:30 p.m. with a Jello eating contest, sack races, water balloon toss and a gold dig.

Sunday's activities also include an antique farm tractor show at 8 a.m., a car show at 8:30 a.m., and a pie baking contest from 9 a.m. to noon. Horseshoe and washer pitching tournaments start at 6 p.m.
A fried chicken dinner will be served starting at 11 a.m., at the Knights of Columbus hall.
