NETGEAR solves WiFi dead spot dilemma with release of easy to install ...
NETGEAR, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking and storage products, announced the release of the Middle East WN3000RP, a simple and affordable universal WiFi range extender. The WN3000RP eliminates dead zones and expands wireless reach of multimedia home networks providing uninterrupted streaming for the home user and SOHO segment.
According to NETGEAR, the increasing emergence of internet-enabled mobile and entertainment devices like tablets, laptops, smartphones Blu-Ray players, game consoles and internet capable television sets are connecting to WiFi networks from around the house and even outside on decks and patios. A big driver for this trend is the growing availability of multimedia streaming, which includes movies, TV shows and music. This in turn, has created a greater consumer demand for strong WiFi connectivity. However, one issue that users have to deal with while connecting from home networks is the presence of WiFi dead spots. In the past, the solution was to run an Ethernet cable through walls and ceilings to add a second wireless access point. The implementation of this solution was inconvenient and also complicated to install. NETGEAR is looking to solve this problem with the roll out of its strategic line of Universal WiFi Range Extenders, which increases the coverage of home networks by automatically repeating the wireless signal from a WiFi router or gateway.
“The Middle East region is seeing an increased growth in the use of mobile and internet enabled devices as a means to go online and watch videos, movies, play games and listen to music. These devices are often used for high-bandwidth activities and require rock solid WiFi connections and will enable users to fix dead spot issues." said Ahmad Zeidan, Channel Sales Manager, NETGEAR Middle East. "NETGEAR's Universal WiFi Range Extender makes it possible to enjoy a robust wireless connection in remote corners of the house or outdoors, in places that have low or no WiFi signal.”
The WN3000RP is a single, compact, self-contained white cube that plugs into any AC outlet. No new wiring is required while setup takes only a few minutes. When paired with routers that have a ‘Push-N-Connect’ (WiFi Protected Setup) button, the only configuration required is simply pressing the ‘Push-N-Connect’ button on the router and then on the extender. The unit comes equipped with dynamic LED indicators on the extender to help determine the best location of use, which is usually about halfway between the router and the wireless dead spot. The extender supports 802.11b/g/n and works with all common WiFi security standards including WEP, WPA and WPA2. The WN3000RP will be available in the region from next month onwards at a retail price of AED 379.
