Northern Ohio PGA conducted its 88th MinuteMenjobs.com Ohio Championships at Weymouth Country Club in Medina.
Many local golfers turned in some respectable scores.They achieve these high marks in the first round of Matthew Gerard (Rocky River, 71), Steve Weir (West Park, Cleveland, 72), Chris Walsh (Fairview Park, 72), Joey Krecic (Columbia Station, 72), Dan Rush (Avon, 73), Nick Paez (Rocky River, 73), Thomas Waitrovich (Westlake, 74), Jeff Ritchey (Westlake, 76), Andrew Bailey (Rocky River, 77), Frank Guise (Westlake, 78), Brian Van De Motter (Rocky River, 78), Kyle Matus (North Olmsted, 84), Pat Weaver (Avon, 87) and John Topeka (North Ridgeville, 87).
The end result saw Chris Walsh (Fairview Park, 72-69-71), Steve Weir (Cleveland, 72-68-76), Dan Rush (Avon, 73-72-74) and Matthew Gerard Rocky River (71-74 - 75) to the top of the list of finalists.

Some of the best high school players from Ohio attended the 10th anniversary of the Ohio Girls Golf Foundation (OGGF) Open Tournament last week at the Avon Oaks Country Club.
To celebrate this anniversary, the theme this year was "Diamonds in the Rough."Several LPGA professionals and local PGA professionals conducted a series of skills challenges in the morning before the tournament to 18 holes.
LPGA professional and Cleveland native Barb Mucha LPGA professionals and Janice Moodie were on hand to let the girls know how a career in golf can go.
"This foundation (OGGF) has grown so much over the years, and has the energy and the golf swing girls," Mucha said."I expect to see some of you girls here on our tour one day, but the most important are the friendships you make and the life lessons you learn from this game."
Over 90 girls in secondary schools around the state persevered through a round of 90-degrees, more humid, while the level of play was just as hot on the trail with amazing scores being recorded.
The winning team was Magnificat High School, with a combined score of 314 followed by Strongsville (333) and Canfield (349).Other high school teams participating included Avon Lake, Avon, Bay, Cardinal Mooney, Geneva, Hubbard, Poland Seminary and Warren JFK.
