1 / 2 cup (1 stick) plus 6 tablespoons butter, softened 3 / 4 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 / 2 cup granulated sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour c. 1 teaspoon baking soda salt cinnamon 1 1 / 2 teaspoon (optional) 3 cups Quaker ® Oats (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked) 1 cup raisins
They were at the beach even Hither Hills since the beginning of their relationship. The first time they went there, Astoria Guy drew a picture in the sand that said "Astoria Guy loves Astoria Girl." Astoria Guy planned to propose in a similar manner.
They set out for the beach on Saturday. Astoria Girl wanted to go to the beach on Block Island Sound, but Astoria Guy INSISTED that they go to Hither Hills! Being typical Astoria Girl, she argued a bit but finally gave in. After arriving at Hither Hills, they walked...and walked....and walked. Finally, they got to an empty spot on the beach and began to settle in.
Then Astoria Guy suggested that he would draw in the sand. He started drawing the original heart that he drew many years ago. But then he drew the "Marry Me" heart. Astoria Guy got down on one knee next to the drawing. He gave Astoria Girl a scroll that explained everything, along with an adorable little heart.
Of course, the answer was YES! They were married on 7.17.10. The rest is history!
